The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Offers DNA Control With Race Mode

Control The Driving Modes Of The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is noted for its DNA system that gives a driver control over the road regardless of its condition in any weather. The engineering that underpins this system is essential in a fast car, especially if the car is built for racing.

In human beings and other living organisms, DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid is the genetic material that defines the very essence of life. It contains instructions that define future performance, which is akin to what the DNA system does in this speedy Alfa. While the letters reference types of driving control, Dynamic/Natural/ All Weather, the acronym is no less fitting, because the DNA system essentially makes an Alfa…an Alfa.

Control Under The Hood Of The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

The purpose of the DNA controls is to orchestrate the engine, brakes, throttle response, suspension, and gearbox to your driving preferences and situations. While the 4C Spider contains state-of-the-art electronic systems to govern every function, DNA allows you to suspend one or more of them when conditions required.

      • In Natural Mode, the 4C Spider offers smooth shifting and the most comfortable ride, while also offering the best fuel economy and lowest emissions. If the car detects a loss of traction, the electronic differential will respond by increasing traction when the car is in natural mode.

      • In Dynamic Mode, car will accelerate almost instantly and the gearshift will respond up to 25% faster. If the car detects a dangerous drift angle, it will engage the Electronic Stability Control (ESC), but otherwise will keep it deactivated.

      • In All Weather Mode, when you need more traction on a rough road, the Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) activates to maintain traction and prevents you from spinning your tires upon start up or acceleration. ASR will coordinate power output and speed to keep you safely on the road without skidding.

      • In the added Race Mode, you can let loose on the road with minimal intervention from the electronic system. Only when you need aggressive braking will ESC engage; you are largely in control of the car and the quicker stopping capabilities engage when you need them. You also have Q2 electronic differential control system online to help you navigate turns faster. This new control is unique to the 4C.
