Years in the making, the 2014 Alfa Romeo 4C is finally ready to debut on Australian shores this year. The 4C represents European styling that is distinctly Alfa, but with performance features finely tuned with Australian drivers in mind. Offering the technical excellence and attention to detail that true motor enthusiasts demand, we believe the Alfa Romeo 4C is the super car that many Australian drivers have been waiting for.
The Alfa Romeo 4C was built on a racing architecture, with the concepts of balance, control, and aerodynamics at the forefront of each and every engineering decision. The 4C's 1.8-litre turbo-charged engine is centrally located to provide optimal weight distribution and enhance the sports coupe's grip on the road. By combining a carbon-fibre chassis with the latest in light-weight, high-performance materials, the 4C tips the scales at a mere 950 kilograms, allowing its state-of-the-art 4-cylinder engine to drive it from 0-100 km/h in only 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h.
From a driver control standpoint, the 4C’s transmission can be manually controlled or set to operate automatically. Race-inspired paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel allow drivers pinpoint control over shift timing. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission offers 4C drivers complete control and customisation of their driving experience.
At each step in the design process of the Alfa Romeo 4C, we set out to create an auto that was uniquely beautiful, while also paying homage to the rich racing heritage that Alfa is world-renowned for. The body lines of our latest addition to the Alfa Romeo legacy recall some of our most iconic designs of the past century, yet each curve and bend has been engineered to enhance performance. The result is an auto that looks as though it's racing down the road even while it's not moving.
That motorsport influence is equally evident on the inside, where the cabin of the 4C feels more like a cockpit than a passenger compartment. Competition seats and a moulded racing steering wheel are mounted in front of a thermoformed dashboard that houses carefully angled performance gauges. Once again, it's the balance of performance and beauty that make the Alfa Romeo 4C like no other Australian auto.
