Fiat Chrysler Group has appointed Guy Grossi as Australia’s first official Alfa Romeo ambassador, creating a link between the iconic Italian automotive brand and arguably the country’s most highly regarded Italian chef and restaurateur.
Mr Grossi’s flagship restaurant is the legendary Grossi Florentino on Bourke Street; he runs two other eateries in Melbourne while also directing Grossi Trattoria in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mr Grossi will be seen in a 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulietta as he commutes between his Melbourne-based establishments.
The Grossi group will also use a Fiat Scudo van for commercial duties, supplied by Italian sister brand Fiat Professional.
Guy Grossi is nationally recognised for his stints as special guest on Masterchef and My Kitchen Rules, co-host of SBS’s Italian Food Safari and the author of five cook books.
He said he was looking forward to representing Alfa Romeo in his new role.
“I have always been a fan of the iconic Italian motoring brands and there is none with a greater sense of history than Alfa Romeo,” Mr Grossi said.
“I'm very excited about this partnership and I’m certain I will be inspired every time I drive my Giulietta, which is of course very modern and stylish but above all, Italian.”
Fiat Chrysler Group Director of Corporate Affairs Karla Leach said the new association would provide a boon for Alfa Romeo’s Australian presence in a significant year for the brand.
“Alfa Romeo and Guy Grossi are both regarded as quintessentially Italian with a passion for performance and style,” Ms Leach said.
“With the arrival of the stunning new Alfa Romeo 4C compact supercar later this year and the ongoing success of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the new, updated MiTo, the future for Alfisti (Alfa Romeo fans) is looking very exciting.”
